Local Restaurants

Coopernook Hotel

Just a short walk away on the Lansdowne River, at the end of Henry Gibson Drive, Coopernook Hotel is a typical country pub. They serve dinner and lunch, however the kitchen closes on Sunday nights. The fish and chips are always good there, as well as their version of garlic prawns (which is cream based). It’s a good spot to go if you don’t want to drive. The last orders are 7.45pm.

Em’s Thai Kitchen

137 Beach Street, Harrington, serves traditional Thai. The service is good and the food is always fresh. Our guests have enjoyed Em’s and so have we… It’s a pleasant atmosphere opposite the river and you can sit outside if you wish. Their phone number 02 6556 0060. Open for dinner from Saturday to Sunday (closed Mondays). Often open for lunch between 12 and 2 but we recommend you call first. Best to book on public holidays.

Harrigan’s Irish Pub

On Josephine Boulevarde, Harrington, telephone 02 6556 0555.  If you like Guinness, this is the place to go (and Ken’s favourite is the Kilkenny Beer)! The pub sits on the Manning River with a view of the Mountains. The grounds are beautifully kept and there are lovely spots in the garden to sit if you want a pre-dinner drink, or watch the sun go down over the river. They have a restaurant which provides a selection of a la carte Irish and Australian fare.

Open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Lunch from 12 noon to 2.30pm and open for dinner from 6pm to 8.30pm. Reservations are recommended to guarantee a table especially if it is a public holiday.

If you would enjoy an evening without having to drive, Harrigans has a courtesy bus which is always willing to pick you up and bring you home at no charge.

Hotel Harrington

30 Beach Road, Harrington, Phone: 02 6556 1205

The Harrington Hotel, with its fabulous location overlooking the Manning River, is open 7 days for lunch and dinner with daily specials. It has an extensive menu (Sal and Ken always like the Fish of the Day). Last orders are about 8.15 Saturdays.

The Sicilian

139 Victoria Street, Taree, telephone 02 6557 8689, open 7 days a week from 8am until late. The Sicilian has an extensive menu focusing on traditional Italian dishes. So whether it’s a coffee made by their trained Barista’s, or traditional Italian fare for lunch or dinner, it’s worth a visit.

Fish, Fish, Fish

121-129 Victoria Street, Taree, telephone 02 6552. Fish Fish Fish has an extensive menu, including meats of you prefer, with a simple décor. The service is good and so is the food. It’s the place we go if we want to celebrate something.

The lamb souvlaki looks really good. If flathead fillets are on the menu, you can’t beat them but all the fish dishes are excellent including the red curry.

Jashan Lounge Indian Restaurant

6/103 Victoria Street, Taree, Telephone 02 6551 5927. If you like Indian food this restaurant is particularly good. We are returning tomorrow night we liked it so much. The drive into Taree from here is about 20 minutes so not too far.

Sai Thai Table

At 1/50 Old Bar Road, Old Bar, telephone 6556 6868. This is café style but when the food is delivered you can be forgiven for thinking you are in one of the best Restaurants in Sydney. The flavours and presentation are excellent and the menu is an interesting one.

If you are making your way up north on a Friday evening, call in and have dinner there on the way. Its quite a special place and its best to book…..
